An intimate, funny, and precise account that brings out both the playful coordinates of Alvin Lucier's world and its experimental depth, Oiseaux (« Birds ») is perhaps one of the best offbeat introductions to the work of the great American composer. The author, Douglas Kahn, is one of the pioneers in the history of sound and energy in the arts. A visual and sound artist specializing in the historical avant-garde and experimental music, he studied with Lucier and revolutionized studies of John Cage.
