Switching to video allows Mattuschka to experiment with new forms of physical transformation on her main subject: Mimi Minus. Monster from a horror movie (ID), anthropomorphic alteration (Plasma), rotting of the aging body (Comeback), Mimi is a guinea pig on whom Mara enjoys painting with humor our primal fears. From Legal Errorist, the first film resulting from her collaboration with the choreographer Chris Haring, Mimi gives way to the unbalanced bodies of performers whose sometimes grotesque bodily expressions are amplified by deliberately exaggerated camera angles.
